Muslim women experience a unique form of oppression when anti-Muslim racism, sexism, and gender-based violence are coupled with each other. The term “Muslimahgyny”, coined by sahibzada mayed, draws attention to the nuanced ways in which Muslim women experience misogyny and sexism. This is a direct result of the compounding effects of gendered Islamophobia, Orientalism, and colonial feminism.
